Not that we’ve ever noticed, we have tried peppers throughout our yard in different sun exposures, raised beds, direct in ground, different soil types (homemade compost, store bought soils and composts, native peet, and just our normal clay soil) and store bought seedlings over our own starts. We have had difficulties getting fruits from pepper plants in the past due to soil nutrients and temperatures, but every time we did get fruits, just before they’d get to a ripeness or big enough to pick something would burrow holes into them. Honestly this year I was just going to give up on peppers, but I finally bought some grow lights and I have 6 bell pepper plants that seem to be doing good.
